The CI team at our Century facility
in Hillsboro, OR has led several
impactful initiatives that have
delivered measurable benefits.
REDUCING WASTEWATER:
A detailed walkthrough of the
production floor identified that
the potato and macaroni washers
could reduce water usage. After
systematically testing reduced water
flow and confirming that product
standards remained unchanged, the
team rolled out the change across all
nozzles, delivering both environmental
and financial benefits.

AWARENESS:
The CI team introduced a new
monitoring system and trained staff
on best practices for minimizing waste.
They explained how excess waste
entering the drains contributes to
wastewater that others must manage
downstream, which helped to foster a
shared sense of responsibility.
To maintain progress, the team now
tracks wastewater levels daily, allowing
them to respond quickly to any spikes.
