Refrigerants
Refrigerants play a critical role in the food supply chain, ensuring that perishable products are safely cooled, transported, and
stored from farm to fork. However, traditional refrigerants pose environmental risks when released into the atmosphere. These
gases have high global warming potential (GWP), meaning they trap significantly more heat than carbon dioxide.
As part of our commitment to reducing our environmental footprint, we continue
transitioning from high-GWP refrigerants toward alternatives with lower climate
impact. Today, most of our primary production facilities use refrigerants with low
GWPs, enabling us to meaningfully reduce our emissions profile.
Employee training is also a key component of our refrigerant
management approach. Proper handling, maintenance, and
disposal of refrigerants aid to minimize leaks, prevent accidental
releases, and ensure compliance with environmental regulatory
standards. Where possible, we reclaim and recycle older
refrigerants to reduce waste and emissions.
